Technology is moving pretty fast these days. Everybody loves to have access to the latest technology that’s available around. With technology moving at an extremely fast pace, how can mobile technology stay behind? With 4G around and kicking fast, 5G is the future. Mobile Technology has evolved tremendously in the last decade or so. We have witnessed a major change from slow 2G to fast 3G and then to faster 4G.

Now, 5G is around and there are a lot of talks going everywhere that what is 5G and what are its advantages? There are huge gossips around about the 5G. People want to know is it all about the speed or something else too. Many other questions are there that keep on buzzing around for a while now about 5G.

What is 5G?

is 5g all about speed

The very first question that comes to mind is What is 5G? What the hype is all about? So here is a try to provide you with the answer.

5th Generation of Mobile Communication or what is also called 5G is the next-generation mobile network carrier technology. It is the next-generation mobile technology that will offer faster data transfer rates and reliable connections. You can witness the download data transfer rate of about 1GBps normally on your smartphones which are 5G compliant.

5G is said to be rolled all over the world by the end of 202 and US, China and Japan will be the first nations to install the full 5G networks. Even AT&T recently launched the 5G services in 12 different cities across the country (US). The reason behind AT&T rolling out the services in a handful of cities across the US is that many smartphone manufacturers have already dived into making the devices which are 5G ready.

The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC is a great example of the mobile technology which is moving vigorously towards 5G adaptation. OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has already cleared that its next smartphone will have Snapdragon 855 which is a 5G ready chipset. And the smartphone will be launching in the first quarter of 2019.

Whereas Lenovo already has launched a 5G smartphone in China which is not having that good when it comes to specifications but it’s true that it has Snapdragon 855 SoC.

Is 5G all about Speed?

When we talk about 5G the first and the last thing that comes to mind it only SPEED. But is it really all about Speed or is there anything else too?

5G is not only about speed. It is one of the biggest and best aspects of 5G. There is a lot that it has to offer.

Do you know Latency? It is another biggest aspect of 5G. Latency is the response time that your phone sends to network and when the network responds. The latency rate will also reduce drastically with your phone being a 5G smartphone. There are many other factors which will come along with 5G, here are a few of them-

  • Faster download and upload speeds
  • Smoother streaming of online content
  • Higher-quality voice and video calls
  • More reliable mobile connections
  • A greater number of connected IoT devices
  • Expansion of advanced technologies – including self-driving cars and smart cities

What are the advantages of 5G?

advantages of 5g

As said earlier, 5G is not all about Speed only. But it is also a fact that this speed is what makes the other things possible using 5G. Here is what it brings with it and are also said to be the advantages of 5G.

  1. Better VR Experience is one of the best advantages of 5G that can help you with the best ever VR features that you can use with 5G around.
  2. Remote Surgery will soon be a reality using the fast speed of 5G which subtract the lag time or latency during the remote surgery using the VR too.
  3. Self Driving Cars will be another fascinating thing that can come to full reality soon with 5G as the networks will be fast and responsive. So the self-driving cars can do great with 5G in future.
  4. Low latency can provide you with the better video streaming experience and also better calling facilities too. With very low or no lag at all you can experience the awesomeness with 5G.

These are some of the advantages of 5G. But that will cost you too, as all of the people currently using 3G or 4G smartphones. There are no phones which are 5G ready (if we leave the recently launched Lenovo Z5 Pro GT) right now and according to the tech pundits, the initial 5G smartphones will cost $250 more than the currently priced smartphones.
